Yesim is the lowest price at every plan size sold for Costa Rica. It is also the only brand here whose Trustpilot score has been taken down. Both facts belong on the same page.

Yesim also sells unlimited by the day, from $5.80 for one day, scaling roughly linearly. It is the one part of the range we would not buy: it costs more than Airalo Unlimited and publishes no daily cap, so you are paying a premium for less information.
The fixed-data plans are the reason to be here. Thirty-day validity on every size including the 1GB, and $3.01 per gigabyte at 3GB and 5GB, is a price nobody else in this comparison approaches. On a two-week trip with wifi at night, the $15.07 5GB plan is very likely all you need.
The Trustpilot suspension, explained properly what we know
Trustpilot removed a set of reviews from Yesim's profile for breaching its guidelines and suspended the star rating that sat on top of them. The profile still carries roughly 2,900 reviews; what it no longer carries is a score you can trust as a summary. This is not the same as a company being shut down, and it is not the same as a company being clean.
What it means practically: you cannot use the usual shortcut. With Saily at 4.7 from 30,290 reviews or Airalo at 4.1 from 41,238, the number does some of your due diligence for you. With Yesim you have to read individual reviews and decide, and the ones we read split hard: most report a plan that installed and worked, a minority report activation failures and slow refunds.
What we recommend if you buy it anyway, and plenty of travelers reasonably will: buy it at least three days before you fly rather than at the airport, install the profile at home, and keep a screenshot of the purchase. That turns the worst realistic outcome from a stranded arrival into a refund argument you have time to win.

Five price rows, five Yesim wins. One trust row, one Yesim loss. That is the whole decision, and it is genuinely yours to make rather than ours: the money is real and so is the risk. What we will not do is bury either half of it under a "top pick" badge.
What Yesim reaches in Costa Rica the same map as everyone
Yesim lists Claro and Movistar, which is Liberty under its former name, as its Costa Rica partners. That is the same pair Airalo and GigSky ride, so the coverage story is identical: strong in the Central Valley, Guanacaste, Arenal and Manuel Antonio, good along the Interamericana, thin once you turn onto dirt, and absent in the Kölbi-only pockets of the Osa, Sarapiquí and Tortuguero.
In other words, paying Airalo an extra $9.65 for 10GB does not buy you better coverage in Costa Rica. It buys you a company with a readable review record. Buying Yesim without getting stung four rules
- Buy at least three days before you fly, not at the airport. If activation fails you want business days in hand, not a boarding call.
- Install the profile at home on wifi and confirm the line appears in your settings. The plan starts counting on first connection in Costa Rica, so early installation costs nothing.
- Screenshot the purchase and the plan details. With a suspended score, your own paper trail is the review record you get.
- If it will not attach on landing, set network selection to manual, pick Claro, then Liberty. If neither appears you are in a Kölbi pocket, which is not Yesim's fault. Full setup guide.

You want 30-day validity at small sizes: $4.99 for 1GB over a month is a category of its own here.

Is Yesim safe to use in Costa Rica?
The service itself is an ordinary travel eSIM riding Claro and Liberty, and most buyers report it installing and working. What you do not get is a reliable public score, because Trustpilot suspended Yesim's rating after removing reviews that breached its guidelines. Buy early, install at home and keep screenshots, and the realistic downside is a refund argument rather than a ruined arrival.
Why is Yesim so much cheaper than Airalo?
Same two networks, different margin and different marketing spend. There is no coverage difference in Costa Rica between Yesim and Airalo, so the $9.65 gap on a 10GB plan buys company record, not signal.

Yes, in the app, and it keeps the same profile so there is no second QR code to scan. That is the practical way to run the cheap route: buy 5GB for $15.07, top up if you actually run out.
Yesim or GigSky for a short trip?
