Every figure read from the brand's own published terms, checked 2026 (Airalo's unlimited USD prices are from earlier in 2026; GigSky's unlimited prices and 3.5GB cap, and Saily's prices, cap and speed, were re-checked 2026). Where we write "none published" it means we looked and there was nothing to find, not that the plan is uncapped in reality.

Price per gigabyte you can actually use

Usable data is the published daily cap multiplied by the plan length. It is a ceiling, not a promise, and almost nobody uses all of it. The point of the column is comparison: at every length, the plan that prints its cap is cheaper per gigabyte than the plans that do not.

Three things fall out of that table. First, among the brands we link, GigSky Unlimited beats every other unlimited plan on price per usable gigabyte. Saily and Airalo sell the same 3GB a day within a cent or two at 15 and 30 days; Saily is $1.51 cheaper for a week. Second, Sim Local's 10GB-a-day plans, which we do not link, are cheaper still per gigabyte and name Kölbi as their network; we have not tested them. Third, the plans that publish nothing tend to be the most expensive, which is a pattern worth noticing across the whole eSIM market.

There is one case where an unpublished cap still wins, and it is Holafly's: if you use data only on the phone and you want to never think about it, an uncapped-in-practice plan has value that a spreadsheet cannot express. We reviewed Holafly in full even though we earn nothing from it.

Approximate figures for planning, not measurements. The practical read: 3GB a day is comfortably enough for a working day plus an evening call, and not enough for HD streaming. In Costa Rica specifically, add a margin, because you will reload maps far more often on roads where the signal keeps dropping.

And the case against all of them: most Costa Rica trips do not need unlimited at all. Two weeks of ordinary use lands around 8 to 11GB, which is $25.20 on Yesim or $34.00 on Airalo, less than half the price of any plan on this page. Work out your number before you buy the big one.
